Growing
up in the Bay Area, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to be around
horses all my life, starting as a child on a Welsh pony, who taught me the most
about riding. We did playdays,
trail rode, just about everything a kid and pony could do.
From there, I raised my first colt, doing all lot with him at schooling
shows and such - trail, pleasure, Western and English.
Then onto another event - Endurance riding before finally finding my best
buddy of 20 years and whom I still have today. He's slowed down a bit and is now retired as a companion
horse and baby-sitter. In between,
we showed Trail, Western Pleasure, Halter, Hunter Under Saddle and Hunter Hack.
I have had the good fortune to
fulfill almost every little girl's dream - to have a place where I can have my
horses (which number 7) at home. And
of course, the dogs and the cats.
But I get to take this venture one step further. For over the course of time, as we all do, I have come to respect the partnership with my horses as well as the companions they have become. The result of that is Whimsical Farms - a facility to retire your faithful companion and partner to in the manner in which they have become accustomed. But in order to have that connection, all horses must get a good start and I have found a niche in working with the foals, haltering, trailing, clipping, putting a foundation on them as the start to their successful careers whether showing, pleasure/trail riding or just being a companion.
And so Whimsical Farms is a facility to start your youngsters and later "turn them out to pasture" (literally) when it's time for retirement.
